12 months

One word to describe 2010 is change.

January : The month of finishing up work (resigned end of January)
February : The month dedicated to being with beloved family and close friends (flew off to DE by end of Feb)
March : The month that I dealt with change (weather, environment, surrounding, currencies, etc.)
April : The month that I dealt with challenges but got closer to my husband (Husband broke his leg end of March)
May : The month of recovery
June : The month of change again (going back to school, in laws came to visit)
July : The month of heat (world cup and weather)
August : The month of Ramadhan
September : The month of celebration (raya and going back home to KL)
October : The month of togetherness (spent time with family but still miss them)
November : The month of changing leaves
December : The month of coldness

Someone told me that 2010 is gonna be a year of big responsibilities.. I thought I was gonna have a baby this year.. Maybe next year inshaAllah...

12 months has passed by so fast.. Looking forward for 2011.. Happy New Year everyone..

Before 2010 ends

I have almost 2 weeks of holidays and my husband has 3 weeks. It's nice to have him around the house sepanjang masa. He will do his stuff and I will do mine and sometimes we will do stuff together. Right now he is busy finishing his PS3 game, Fallout Vegas. And I am in between watching movies and learning Deutsch. Yesterday I wrote my resolution and my target for the first quarter of 2011. I taped it next to the mirror with the hope that I will not ignore it :p
(Click to view larger). Yeah, looks pretty sensible. and No, i decided not to gain weight since I have recently purchased a pair of jeggings and loving it! Jegging like leggings only made of jeans. How cool is that! It fits nicely and looks great when your wearing boots because the jeggings will go straight inside your boots.

Why did I finally decide take multivitamins ? Why only start now?
  • I realized that I am gonna be 30 by next year
  • Since my husband is on a healthy diet regime, he unintentionally made me wanna have a healthy diet as well.
  • My hair is changing color
  • I have Vitamin B12 deficiency
  • The multivitamins in Germany are sold in solluble tablettes. Instead of swallowing pills, I can drink them, in Orange flavour some more! (in case you didn't know, I have problem swallowing pills)
I can sum up my targets and resolutions into three main areas; Deutsch learning (OMG- this is typical German grammar.. Deutsch lernen) correction, learning Deutsch, consuming healthy food and reading.

Why my target is for the first quarter? Well, I don't wanna wait until the end of the year to see where I am at. 3 months is just nice to review my progress and still have time to improvise till the first half of the year. By March, I will complete my Deutsch Course and hopefully, inshaAllah dah lulus for my visa.. Please pray hard for me.. My visa has to be renewed by then and kalau semua okay maka it smoothens the process of my Permanent Residency and it makes it easier to find a job or further my studies :) That's why I am really struggling with my Deutsch.

For all you readers who have been good to me, here is a picture of myself. I have mentioned this before and will mention this again, this is an unprivatised private blog. I feel very happy blogging here knowing that the people I share it with have good hearts and are not judgmental. 2010 has been a challenging year for me (If I have the time, I will blog about the highlights of the year). It's a year with full of significant changes. Honestly, I can't wait for 2011 cause it's gonna be a great year inshaAllah :)

This pic was taken by my husband. We were on our way back from grocery shopping. We got used to carrying heavy things on our bagpacks and walking back home with it since we don't have a car to carry our groceries. This was after a 2 days of heavy snow. Snow was up to my boots! White Christmas indeed.

This is me at Mannheim's Weihnachtsmarkt (Christmas Market). On the left, I was eating Crepe with Nutella. Sedap! And on the right, I was having Alcoholfrei Glühwein. It's a traditional German drink. But they drink it with alcohol of course. The content that I had was Zitrone.Normally they will drink it during the cold winter. I brought bag the mug which costed 2€ as a souvenir. You can see very clearly that I am very lefthanded. Haha..

One question, what is the last thing you wanna do before 2010 ends?

In between topics

Blogged on 25th December 2010 ::

Since it's the holiday season, a lot of the series' themes were very Christmas-y. In addition, it's been snowing the whole day yesterday and today when we woke up, it was seputih - putihnya. Guess the Germans' got their White Christmas.

Meanwhile, me and my husband spent the day just chilling at home. We got back almost at 1:30 am last night. We were invited for a 4-Course Christmas dinner at our houseowner's place (we live 2 stairs up from them). It was the first time I ate daging Rusa. It tasted not bad I guess. It was us, Kak Anis and Joe, and his mom (Oma, she is 89) and their friend Eric. After dinner, we had a little karaoke session and I scored the highest (97% btw) hehehe. My husband suddenly asked me if I wanted a karaoke set after he saw me meng-kongker microphone. heheheh.. We shall see :)

Yeah, karaoke is one way of boosting your self esteem. Which I need very much right now. Perhaps it's the winter talking or the holiday season thingy. Im not sure. I also played the piano a little. I played Beethoven"s piece Für Elise which I learned by hard (ke heart?) since I was 9 years old. Then I played a the shorter version of The Entertainer who left Joe whistling the song over and over again hehehe. I learned that the piano that I was playing survived the World War 2. It was Oma's piano and now Carie's. It's been around since 1935. It's older than my dad. And it's still in superb condition (German made :p ). Oma was telling about her life and how it was during the world war. Mannheim was one of the cities that got bombed. What's cool about old German people is that they have stories to tell about the war. And what better way to learn my German than talking to an old lady who speaks slowly but perfect German grammar. I understood her stories, or at least 70% of it. Oma wears a necklace that was given by her 1st husband. They got married when they were 19. Two weeks after the wedding, he had to go to war. He died in the war. She was devastated. She loved her first husband dearly and speaks fondly of him. Sedihnya. Macam dalam movie.

This morning I thought about Oma's love story. I was in for a love movie kinda mood. So I watched 'The Lakehouse' today. My husband (who never watches a movie twice) sat and watched it (again) with me. The story is a fiction. And there were several questions that was playing in my head while I was watching it. After the movie, me n my husband discussed about it and came to a conclusion that we both agreed (although it would never happen in real life). It was a nice show. What I like about it is that the thought about that guy... (opps.. don't wanna spoil the movie - if you haven't watched it). I would give it 8 out of 10 for The Lakehouse. 1 point was because Keanu Reaves heheheh.

Blogged on 27th December 2010 ::

After watching Jason Segel (the guy in How I met your mother) on Conan, we decided to check out Forgetting Sarah Marshall. He did mention that there are several scenes that he showed his you-know-what secara terang dan jelas. I almost puked when I saw 'it'. Selamba jer dia. My husband said, "It's his job what.. He's an actor" Hahaha.. sabar je la. But the movie was okla.. Funny. I recommend you to watch it when you are feeling macam nak tengok lawak2 bodoh. Nothing to wow about but just ok for me. I would give this movie a half half 5 out of 10.

Since I was in a movie marathon mood, I finally decided to watch the much talked about movie. Eat, Pray, Love. I would say that I was quite disappointed with that movie. Nothing much to wow about. I even fell asleep during that movie. Till now I don't think I wanna continue watching it. It's not so bad but it's not that good either. The movie is highly overrated just because Julia Roberts was starring in it. I would rate this halfly watched movie a 3.5 out of 10 for Eat, Pray, Love. Sorry.

After much disppointment, I switched my mood to a girly-girly movie kinda. I decided to catch up on The Sisterhood of the travelling pants. The only reason I wanted to watch this movie was because of Alexis Bledel and Blake Lively (she spells out Tall, Rich, Beautiful and Style). Terpengaruh dengan Gossip Girl. Maybe it's the effect of the Eat, Pray, Love movie, or maybe because I will be 30 next year, but this movie was not for me kot. It's loud (as in girls asik2 cakap which is memeningkan - Imagine Gilmore Girls darab 2), and tambah lagi pening because there are four main characters and they keep on switching scenes between all four of them. The minute you start to focus on one character, they change to another character. (a good observation. Mental Note : not to do that if I decide to direct a movie or write a novel :p ) Rating, 4 out of 10. 1 point is because I like the concept of the travelling jeans.. And only that..

Tonight my husband and I are gonna watch Reign over me starring Adam Sandler. So I hope I am able to give some reviews :)

Full Moon

Behind the moving clouds, I can see full moon. It's 14 Muharram. So pretty it is, subhanallah. Allah's creation.

I was about 10 years old, every Saturday night we would go to Arwah Opah's house in Subang Jaya for dinner. My sister and I would beg our parents to drop us off in Subang Parade instead or going to Opah's. We knew the answer would be no but never gave up asking. On the way backhome, I would look out the window from our car and stare at the full moon with full of awe. That was the point when I ambitioned to become a scientist. Puberty then hit me. All the teenage rebel and anger made me learn more about the environment and saving the earth. I changed my ambition to becoming an environmentalist. I did my part, I was very close friends with the President of the Kelab Pecinta Alam. On Friday nights, we would have this star-gazing activity in school. We had really cool equipments and got to play with the Telescope. I saw the surface of the moon, planet Jupiter, Saturn and it's ring and 5 of its moon orbiting and that was an amazing experience. I developed a passion towards Astronomy. I did a lot of reading about the subject. And somewhere along the way, from astronomical reading, I learned to express things through writing. I had alot of ideas for poems, novels and songs. I learned how to compose music from my piano lessons. Then I switched to the arts world. I was dead serious about it. I wrote drama scripts and directed teather. However, things change. I ended up working for a bank and later became a Statistics lecturer. Now a housewife struggling with Deutsch.

Throughout all these years, I have stared at the moon from I was a little girl and now a woman. There has been myriad changes throughout my life, but the moon stays the same. It amazes me how crazy we are here coping with change and the moon calms us down. How ironic it is for me to say that it makes you feel down to earth a little. What blows my mind is that from whichever part of the world we are, we share the same moon. Perhaps at that particular time that I am staring at the moon, you are staring at it too. Sometimes these taughts come to my mind. I am reminded of a conversation that took place when I was in my early 20s. It was during Friday prayers and my friend had said this, 'You know, maybe our jodoh tengah sembahyang jumaat at this very minute'. And I said, 'Hmm.. tak semestinya.. Kalau dia kat overseas ke sekarang?' At that moment, I had no idea why I said that. But I remember it vividly. I thought about this conversation an hour before my akad. It freaked me out a little.

We all share the same moon, the same sun. From wherever we are. It's not just facebook that keeps us connected. It's the universe.

new kid in the class

That will be me. I will be starting class again this Tuesday. Don't ask me why it's not on Monday. I have no idea. This time I will be in a new group with new teachers, new environment, new feel, new pace. I never like the idea of change. It will always take me a while to get used to things. I was very comfortable with my previous group. We were close and made jokes alot but we were serious about learning the language. The teacher will not be Markus (my previous teacher). I think Markus is a great teacher. And everybody would agree with me on this. The thing I hate most is introducing myself to a group where everybody already know each other. Perhaps there will be new students as well. But the good thing is, my American friend Lisa is in the same group. So at least there is a familiar face. She already gave me a heads up on the teachers and how the pace is gonna be like.

I have prepared my introduction :

Halo.

Could you understand the text? It sounds a little bit like English kan ?
Wish me luck people. I have 3 more modules to go before the BIG EXAM for my Visa.

The truth about cats ... tribute to Belang

I used to LOVE cats. Being the youngest of 4 siblings, I treated cats like little kids as well. I would sleep with them, gomol² them and play with them. Till one incident that changed everything.

It was 1985. Our family went to my auntie's place in Jerantut, Pahang. I remember clearly how my cousin, Kak Ena called me to go to their back yard and played with their black cat. 'D..., jom main kat belakang. Ada kucing Micheal Jackson.' Micheal Jackson was at his peak of his carrier and Thriller was frequently played on the TV and Radio. Kak Ena referred to that cat as Micheal Jackson because it was completely black. We were playing with the cat. Kak Ena was wiggling a rope and I was laughing at the cat. Suddenly I decided to be naughty and pull the cat's tail. The cat angrily meowed at me. We laughed innocently. I was only 4. And my cousin was 7. Again we played around with the cat. I pulled it's tail again. It turned, jumped and bit my knee. I happened in a blink of an eye. I screamed out loud. My cousin panicked and started screaming 'Mak! Auntie Yam!' I moved my legs but the cat didn't let go of its bite. And it was just flying around my legs. I think it was almost 10 seconds till it let go of the bite. Red blood was dripping down my right leg. I couldn't walk and I thought I was gonna die. My cousin got her dad to take the cat away. We went to the hospital and I got injected on my behind. :( It seems that takut the gigitan ada poison.

That incident not only left a mark on my right leg (till now) but also left a deep impact in my life. It traumatised me.. and till now, I am a cat-a-phobia.

We did own a cat when I was a teenager. Her name was Belang and she was very playful. We never let her in our house. I would open our sliding door ajar and give her milk in a bowl and massage her head while she licks the milk. But the she would feel all playful and wanna bite my finger. I would quickly slide the door and sometimes her hand would get stuck. I would jentik abit on her hand and said, 'Padan muka, siapa suruh main'. We had a nice time together. If she sneaks in, she would chase me around the house and I would run as fast as I could and close my room door. Then she would put her hand in between the floor and the door. I would take a pensil and play around with her. Through a closed door. That'S how scared I was. Sometimes, when I study, I would wiggle my leg and suddenly she would run and bite it. I would scream and jump up the table. Belang will just look up at me from below while wiggling her tail, waiting to jump on the table. When she jumps, I will jump down and run, again to my room and close the door. At that time, it felt scary. But now, it's sweet memories.

It's been more than 25 years but the phobia and also the mark is still there. But lately, I am starting to love cats again. And I sooo wanna own cat right now. But me and my husband both tak tahan bulu². And with my hairfall problem around the house, having cat-hair would only make our house messier. Sigh.. All I can do is play with our neighbour's cat... Also behind closed doors.. only there is no space under the door that she can put her hands under it.. just like belang.. I call her, Belang No. 2.

Before I end this post, catlovers can check out this link I saw on the net . Funny!

I miss you belang. Maybe I might own a cat again, one day :)

A Long December

I was on facebook just now. I have toned down on the anger bit since I watched socialnetwork. I figured that Mark's idea was brilliant, though there are people who claimed that he stole the idea. But he didn't steal the codes. And that is why, when you have an idea, you should act on it right away and not procastinate :p

Anyway, our friend, Kurik posted Counting Crows' Long December video and that had triggered me to write this piece (again, with the pieces :p).

It does seem like a long december though. It's only the 7th today and I feel like two weeks has gone. Perhaps its the long night time where Maghrib is only at 1630 and once you're done with Isya' at 1815, you feel the distance between that time and the time you sleep moves very slowly. Does it make sense at all ?

Well, I am fasting today and I feel bad saying this. It's nice to have Subuh at 0611 and maghrib at 1630 which makes it supercool to puasa but the winter makes me wanna eat all the time.Sabar².

Tonight my husband is going to hang out with his Americana friend here in Lindenhof to watch their favourite NFL team, New England Patriots. It's another guys night out. I wish I had more girl friends here and have more girls night out.. or in.. or whatever.. Since my friend YY is currently busy with her Masters presentation, I malas nak kacau her. I will only kacau her after her presentation hehehe.. Sooo.. Im gonna cook a healthy yet fatty speghetti bolognaise with lots and lots of cheese. And maybe, I might just make my famous Bread pudding as dessert. I'm gonna put on my legging and watch Eat.Pray.Love under the covers tonight. I need some down to earth kinda movie.

By the by, yesterday while going to town and surveying boots for my husband, I saw that there is a Christmas Sale and said WELL HELLO to you too! Perfumes are sold at really cheap prices. Luckily I am not so much of a perfume person.  I will use one perfume till the very last drop before buying a new one. Im more of a shoes and handbags person. Or maybe just shoes. Oh wait, yup that's right.. Shoes and handbags :p So I didn't get any.

Contemplating whether I should go out again or not today.

what Sara wrote

What Sara wrote on her blog made me write this piece (cewah, piece tu.. mcm some Piano piece je). Being an 80s baby rocks. I remember I used to wait for the Intisari Rancangan where the person would read out the TV program. One time, while the person was reading the program, suddenly one of her ear rings dropped while shooting. And she kept on reading but she cleared her throat after that incident happened. I laughed so loud! I think I was only 4 or 5. I will never forget that.

I used to be glued on the TV for hours. Those days DVD or VCD players belum wujud lagi. During day time, I would watch Smurfs, She-Ra and He-Man, Thundercats (they were awesome!), Jem and the Hologram (I love their songs!), My little Pony, Carebears, Ducktales, Bugsbunny show, Popeye The Sailorman. Those are the ones that I can remember. Garfield was around during the 1990s. Other than cartoons, I would watch Little House on the Prairie, Growing Pains (my family would sit in front of the tv and watch this), Full House, The A Team, McGyver, AirWolf, Doogie Howser, The Cosby Show, Family Matters (Famous quote by Steve Urkel 'Did I do thaaat?'), Family Ties, Fat Albert, My Two Dads, Ghostbusters, Ninja Turle,  Out of this world (this is a really cool one), Small Wonder, Wonder Years (OMG, best sangat citer nih), Who's The Boss, Just the 10 of us, .. Eh banyak la.. Tu tak campur the ones during the early 90s like.. Secret World of Alex Mack, 21 Jump Street, Zorro, Parker Lewis Can't Lose, Fresh Prince of Bel Air, Get Smart, Moesha, Ferris Beuller, Saved by the Bell, Clarissa Explains it All, omg, banyaknya... Of course there was a time where sometimes I would run back home early to watch that Japanese show we all loved so much, Moero Attack.. Come on, you wouldn't be an 80s baby if you didn't watch that one. It was awesome!

Then puberty hit me and I stopped watching cartoons or citer berunsurkan ke-kanak-kanakkan.. I started watching Santa Barbara (lagu Peabo Bryson, if ever you're in my arms again) and Beverly Hills 90210 and I never miss an episode. This was when I was in Standard 6. Everybody who is anybody watched that show. Girls would wanna be like Brenda or Kelly and find a boyfriend like Brendon or Dylan McKay. I didn't watch Melrose Place though. There was a short tv channel, MetroVision and they would air Dawson's Creek, Daria, Le Femme Nikita, Models Inc (famous quote, I know you killed Teri Spencer).

I think these are only a few that I remember. Im certain that I watched a lot more shows than this. Listing all these shows, I could evidently encapsulate that I grew up with TV. During that growing up phase, our brains are like sponges waiting to absorb new things. I would repeat some of the sentences out loud to learn new words or study how they talk. I guess it's a learning process. My siblings would tease each other by quoting from TV shows especially Growing Pains (since its about siblings who grew up together) and also Fresh Prince of Bel Air and Did I do thaaaat? by Family Matters.

Those were the days. The good old days. One day we will look back and probably I would write how I religiously follow tv shows like 30 Rock, Seinfeld, Weeds, Glee, How I Met Your Mother, Castle, Modern Family, Community, South Park, Sex and the City, The Sopranos, The Office, The Good Wife, Ghost Whisperer, numb3rs, Cougar Town, Conan O Brien,  Simpsons, Futurama, House, Psych, Laguna Beach, The Hills (I LOVE THIS!), Chuck, Haven, Mike and Molly, Outsourced (must watch!!), The Big Bang Theory, Two and a half men and so much more that I just cant remember right now. Gila kan? I think most of you would list down the same TV shows. Tu tak campur citer yang I missed out and will soon do a marathon like Entourage, Gossip Girls, Desperate Housewives, Grey's Anatomy, Friends, etc etc. Gosh banyaknya!... I wish I would read as much as I watch tv though :p

The shows that I highlighted in blue are brilliantly funny in a dark way and I would highly recommend you to watch those. The Sopranos is also a good watch but be careful because once you start, it's hard to stop.. and it has 6 heavy seasons :p

three-0 cheerio [edited in blue]

Well hey again. I just remembered. It's the time of the year, again. Today, after Maghrib, marks the new year of the Islamic calender, 1432H. Usually, bloggers would write up their new years resolution. I couldn't find where mine was. Then it hit me. Between the changing of blogaddresses and links and changing countries bit, I didn't write my new year's resolution. So now I can't measure whether I have succeeded in resolving it or not.

The idea of having a resolution is to start something good or something better than before at a significant date. The usual would be new year, where everyone will have high hopes of becoming a better person, or losing a significant amount of weight or cutting down on the spending. Floral and dandy stuff. If you missed that, there is always Birthdays to look forward to.. That you REALLY REALLY wanna change to be a better person and all that jazz.

But the question is, how to materialize that resolution ? More often than not, resolutions will only lasts just for a few days or weeks. You will soon get wrapped up with other things and get used to writing the date as a new year. And that is when your resolution vanishes. Raise your hands if you agree with me on this (Yes, I do mean you at the back there). What's ironic is that some of the things that you really want to accomplish doesn't even have to wait for the countdown of a new year of after blowing your birthday cake. You can simply accomplish it when you put your mind to it. It's really that easy.

So why do we wait until the new year to start something? Why do we wait until its 01-01-20XX to start to jog 3 times a week? Why not start immediately? Sometimes you feel the urge to do something, you might as well just do it right away. Cause you might change your mind later or don't feel as strongly as you felt before.

Great things or great ideas don't just wait at a specific date for it to happen. It can happen at any time at all. I always believe in this, once you feel like doing something, do it right away. And don't procastinate, once you do, it'll never be as successful as you wanted it to be at the beginning.

You want something to change? Change it now. Start exercising now. Start reading good books now. Start being a better person now.  'I wanna be a better person, but I'm just gonna wait till new year' . Who does that ? Don't wait till its fireworks at 00:01 at 01-01-11. Though the time sounds nice, it won't mean as much if you don't have the passion to do it.

Yea, I will be entering the big THREE-0 next year and it's gonna be a great experience :)

Oh wait, I did have a resolution .. This was from my previous blog...

Tomorrow is 1 Muharam 1431H. My new year's resolution this time is abit different.. Haven't thought about the specific targets though..

But I resolve to be...

a good wife to my husband
a good daughter to my parents and daughter in law to my parents in law
a good sister to all my brothers and sisters and in laws
a good mother to my children (inshallah when the right time comes)
a good aunt to all my nieces and nephews
a good friend to all my friends
a good employee to my employer
a good student to my school of life

a better Muslimah and a better person for each and everyday..

will post my hopes and wishes and targets in the next post..

Salam Maal Hijrah to all Muslims all over the world!

Come to think of it, New Year's resolution sounds more like your Yearly Performance Appraisal, don cha think ?

Well hey

Well hey I changed the templates of my blog, again. Going for the simpler, not-so- girly-er kinda look. It's been a cold winter this year. And we experienced so far the lowest of -9°C recently. But now its a bearable 0°C. However, there is no sun today. I am thinking of heading down to town and just check out some stuff. Last week I went to the Christmas market with my friend from Americana, Lisa. She bought some stuff for her family back in the states and was telling me how they celebrate Christmas. I told her we have something like this before our Muslim celebration, Hari Raya. We have the Pasar Ramadhan for one month. In Germany, they have a one month Christmas market. They call it, Weihnachtsmarkt. I also saw a bunch of Polizei walking around and riding horses (that's the first). Seems that there was a terrorist threat in Germany and the police are just standing by.

Planning to go there again with my husband, probably today. He wants to get some boots because sneakers are not good for winter time. I got mine already :) Also, I got a Roti Phrata from the Asean shop as a substitute for Roti Canai. It has a Halal chop from Singapore and it tasted good. But we only get 5 pieces for 1.80€. Shade. Makan sekali round dah habis :(

Well hey, probably will update some pictures soon. I was not in a blogging mood for awhile but now I'm back. Shout out to Zoey Jane (my car) who turns 5 today!

Catching up with Movies

Last weekend my husband had some of his German officemates cameover for their once-in-awhile rock-banding. We just recently purchase Rock Band 3 plus with the Keyboard. It didn't take me long to shift to Expert mode on keyboards. Maybe because it was easy, or maybe it was because I used to take piano lessons.
We also got the hang of EA Sports thingy. Since it's snowing now and the weather is below 0°C most of the time, the usual exercising by the river is a crazy idea. We needed indoor activities to keep ourselves warm. I burned more than 100 calories already (not a good progress) and my husband lost a significant amount of weight. Bravo! My husband is also now hooked up on Fallout Las Vegas ( I think). So during that time I would usually catch up on my shows and movies. Since I stopped watching The Hills, I decided to watch movies for last weekend.

socialnetwork  was brilliant! I like real life stories. And I think Mark Zuckerburg is a genius. It's a must watch movie for sure. It got me thinking about how great ideas can become such a phenomenon. No wonder he is now the youngest billionaire. Though he dropped out of Harvard, he is still very successful and injected some amount of his proceeds for charity. It also got me thinking about how the westerners are amazing in making movies. Of course we always looks on the positive side of things. Their movies are very moving and inspiring and it makes you really think about it even after watching the movie. I really do hope that Malaysians can produce these kind of movies one day.

The lovely bones. Cleverly written and directed. I still couldn't decide if this movie is heavy or light. It's just something in between. The idea is very different and the ending is not so cliche. I liked watching the girl who acted as Susie. Her face lit up everytime she smiled and she narrated the movie with a very child-ghostly voice. It made me want to listen to every word she was saying. The ending phrases was also the phrases used in the beginning and I thought that it had sum up the story nicely. And you would think that the title means something but its actually something else.. At least that was what happened to me :)

If you've watched any of these two, do share with me your comments about the movies k :)

David Letterman

Someone said to me that an indication if you have mastered a language is you can understand their jokes. Speaking of jokes, I am now starting to watch David Letterman again. I used to watch the show a lot back in 1999, the post SPM time. What triggered me to watch it again was because his guest was Jerry Seinfeld. I think I watched almost all of Seinfeld's shows.

Anyway, David Letterman always has a segment on his show. It's called the TOP 10 List. It's quite funny though. Check this one out..

Signs the Taliban Leader You're Negotiating with is an Impostor

#10 : His beard is a glued- on carpet sample
#  9 : Agrees to peace settlement in exchange for a date with Kim Kardashian
#  8 : Just doesn't seem very Talibanny
#  7 : Got all of his terror plot ideas from 'JackAss 3D'
#  6 : You ask, 'Are you the Taliban leader?' and he responds, 'Si'    [LOL]
#  5 : Raised in the mountainous regions of Aspen, Colorado
#  4 : Looks suspiciously like Cousin Sal from 'Jimmy Kimmel Live'
#  3 : End discussion with  'Death to America and the Jets for not covering the spread against Houston'
#  2 : Keep quoting like from 'They call me Baba Booey'
#  1 : Wants to bring peace to Pakistan, Afghanistan and Jenniferanistan

Note : This is just for laughs.. Don't take it personally k..

Next Jerry Seinfeld did a stand up which was hillarious. Watch it here

Team Coco

Haven't been blogging for awhile. So many things I wanna share but I don't really feel like it.

I watched Conan yesterday and the Joel McHale was his guest. He is Jeff Winger from Community. I love that show. And I was just telling my husband that he is kinda cute. But he said, 'yeah, but he looks old' :p haha..

However, I wasn't really happy when he mocked one of Conan's audience's dressing. It was really uncool of him.

Singing in the rain

You can compare with this..

Wetter wetter and Harry Potter

From one Freitag (Friday) to another Freitag to another Freitag. Can you see how drastically the weather changes ? Check it out. Today the weater is gonna be a nice 6/9°C. Meaning. The highest would be 9 and lowest is 6°C. And check out next week -7/0°C. And the next two weeks is gonna be  -17/6°C. Gila kan range dia ? From a very low negative to a 6. I cannot imagine how it's gonna be. -17°C is gonna be the coldest weather I will be experiencing. Actually, the coldest that I have experienced was -5°C during last Winter. Even when it snowed it was only -5°C. There is gonna be a light snowfall next Thursday (25/11/2010). Seronok pulak. I hope its gonna be as fun as I always watch in the movies though :p

Speaking of movies, yesterday, me n my husband and some other friends went to the kino (cinema) to watch Harry Potter. And get this, it was my first time in a cinema here and it was our first movie after we got married. Haha! I realized this after YY asked me, 'Hast du schon ins Kino gehen?' Have you been to the Kino yet?  And I thought and replied, 'Nein, this (tercakap english pulak) ist meine erste mal'. And I thought further and said, 'Eh, this is our first movie after we got married kan ?' And my husband said, Haah laah.. I added to YY about that fact and she laughed and said to my husband, 'Really aa? And it's Harry Potter some more :p' Hehehe.

We are not much of a Harry Potter fan. I think my husband never watched the movie and I watched only the first one and ended up sleeping at the 2nd CD: Maaf². I don't really fancy fantasy movies. Like Harry Potter, Narnia, LOTR etc. etc. I slept after watching 30 mins of LOTR. But Merlin I like. Dunno y. It's like a series that me n my family can sit n watch together. Maybe because it shows on a Sunday nights at TV3 (dulu la, now im not sure) and after dinner time. So macam chilling out time kot. But we like it a lot.

So anyway, when we got back yesterday, my husband and I took the train back up to Meeräckerplatz and walked home. Cewah, macam romantic la cause it was cold and everything. We were konon² speaking like Englishmen with very thick UK slang :p 'Whot you need to due is..' , 'That is mad!' .. 'Oh , it's bloody cold hierrr' Saje nak mengusik Harry Potter. I find UK slang are very difficult to comprehend. Because it sounds very thick and melodic. The melody sounds like more of a statement rather than a question. So sometimes I wonder, is he asking or making a statement? Memang bengong la.. Tergelak gelak. It was fun! And I realised, it doesn't take much to make me happy. Cause yesterday macam demotivated, probably the hormones and the you-know-it-girls time of the month, URGH.

Anyways, this weekend our highschool friend, Kurik and David, will be hanging out here. So kena kemas rumah! And buy food and cook! It's nice kot to have some company. And it's good for our relationship. My husband needs some guy time and I need to do my girl things too. Hehe. If Carie is not bz, I might ajak her to hang out skali la. Do some girl stuff.

Okla, have a great Friday and weekend y'all! Schönes Wochenende!

Hopeful

That's 3 nights in a row of freaky and scary nightmares. Mama says kalau mimpi buruk jangan citer kat orang. If you have a good dream, tell ONLY the one that you trust. I have heard of this. My friend told me a story that our Prophet Muhammad SAW adviced his friend of this.

Been feeling abit demotivated and down lately. But we can't always blame the weather right ?

Watched Glee yesterday. Gwyneth Parltrow was the substitute teacher for Glee club and she definitely nailed it! Right on the spot!

Today I heard Lean on Me MP3 from Glee. I used to listen to this song on my way back from work. The original song. And I would bop my head and sing my heart out dengan penuh perasaan (Bak kata Cikgu Juriah - SPM Chemistry teacher). For me, singing gives me that feel-good-feeling. Although I am not a good singer, but not bad in karaoke. (96% in Karaoke for I will Survive though :p ehem³ iklan jap) Anyway, back to the song. It's was from a movie 1989 movie, Lean on Me starring Morgan Freeman. I love those kinda movies. Movies about inspiring teachers. Teachers that not only teach academically. But also teach students about life. Teachers that give motivation, hope, faith and confidence to the next generation. Inspiring teachers that can change a person for the better, can change the world. At least someone's world. Inspiring teachers will be remembered for a long long time.

My favourite inspiring-teacher movies would be Lean on Me, To Sir with love, Dangerous Minds and Coach Carter (must see). It's not teacher's day. but I pray that all my teachers are blessed. Both my parents were teachers before. Their students still remember them till today. Both of my parents are still teachers of my life till today and will always be the inspiring teachers of my life. I hope that one day, I can contribute and become a teacher again. And hopefully can inspire students to be more that they can be.

Here is Hopeful from Twista OST of Coach Carter.

'Our deepest fears not that we are inadequate,
our deepest fears that we are powerful beyond measure'

Good news, I got my 3rd assignment this week. Alhamdulillah :) Hope I will manage to do a good job and maintain a good rapport with the London Team Leader*.

Unfinished studying dream

Dreams are weird. Or it can be rather freaky. I can say that I dream almost every night. Almost. Especially since I came to DE. As a child, my mom would remind me to wash my feet before going to bed to prevent from having nightmares. There is also a saying that if you have 'sisa nasi' on your feet, you might sleepwalk and end up somewhere else the next morning. I dunno how true is this myth or fact. I have never experimented putting sisa nasi on my feet.

Since almost 10 years, I have been having similar dreams over and over again and it always seemed so real or surreal. I always dream that I didn't finish studying Sejarah SPM or Modern Maths SPM. It's always a dream that I need to do something and suddenly I would think, 'alamak, Sejarah form 5 tak habis baca lagi.. sempat ker?'

Last night, I had another weird dream that eventually ended with that dream : the unfinished studying dream. I dreamt I was in an Art class. My classmate was Jeff Winger from tv sitcom Community. Our assignment was we had to enterpret two sentences and make a drawing of it. Our teacher asked us the meaning of these two sentences and I raised up my hand to answer. But she scolded me for giving the wrong answer and I had to sit at the corner. So did Jeff Winger. While doing our assignment at the corner, suddenly I asked Jeff. (Picture source : http://www.tvguide.com/celebrities/joel-mchale/photos/195178/103427)

Me : Sempat ke nak siap ni ?
Jeff : Alah, sempat.
Me : (thinking) Mod Maths tak study pun. Exam lagi 2 minggu je weh. Korang tak risau ker, cikgu Saadah tak penah masuk pun ajar. Kitorg blajar utk 8 paper jer.. Nanti fail la.. Mcmne nak jawab ?
Jeff : Jawab je lah.
One girl (suddenly muncul) : Dia sama macam Addmaths la.. Kalau boleh jawab addmaths, boleh jawab punya.

I was worried. And in my dreams I thought, alaaa, mimpi ni lagi ke? Penat laa..

This morning after my husband left for work. I decided to google the benefits of eating grapes. Found out that it has a lot of Potassium. And suddenly I stumbled upon this site . Ok I lied. I googled the meaning of dreams. Because it was killing me. What it had enterprated was scary because it might be true..

Test dreams also suggest that you are feeling unprepared for a challenge. Rarely, these dreams are about the actual content of the test, but rather it is more about the process and how you feel during the exam taking process. These feelings often parallel how you are actually feeling in a particular challenge or situation in your waking like.

Test dreams are also an indication that you are being judged. These dreams serve as a signal for you to examine an aspect of yourself that you may have been neglecting and need to pay more attention to. You may be harboring some guilt because you did not prepare enough for a school exam, meeting, business project, or some project. Most of the time, though, people who have such dreams are
unlikely to fail a test in real life. This dream is rooted in the fear and anxiety that you may not meet other's standards. You are afraid to let others down.

The only comforting part was the one I highlighted in black. And perhaps, the one I underlined in red is something I need to analyse carefully.

Funny

I watched Scott Pilgrim vs The World and it was funny and entertaining. Very light. IT's good to watch after you've watched a whole weekend of CIA, FBI related series..  Here are some of my favourite quotes

Scott : Why does everything has to be so complicated ? (sliding down refrigerator)
Wallace : If you want something bad you have to fight for it. Step up your game Scott. Break up the L word.
Scott : Lesbian?
Wallace : The other L word
Scott : (thinking) LesbiANs?
Wallace : Love, Scott. I wasn't trying to trick you.

Knives : .. I mean.. I've never gone out with anyone so talented?
Scott : You go out with a lot of guys ?
Knives : Em, no..
Scott : Yeah.. so whatever man
Knives : I've never even kissed a guy..
Scott : Hey.. me neither

Young Neil : Oh my god.. You punched the highlights out of her hair .. He punched the highlights out of her hair!!

Scott : I'm in lesbians with you
Ramona : What ?
Scott : I really really mean it..

Wallace : Scott, you know I love you (handing tea). But I'm gonna need my own bed tonight. It's for sex.
Scott : ..Right
Wallace : I may need it for the rest of the week too
Scott : Right
Wallace : And the year
Scott : I get it
Wallace : Maybe you can move in with Ramona
Scott : She's with Giddeon
Wallace : Oh man.. It's probably just because he's better than you

Learn To Fly

Can you imagine kalau FB ada time² SPM dulu?
Status : Kat DS menikmati nasi ayam.. nyummyyy!!
Status : Jangan kongker jalan boleh tak ???? tensyen!!!
Status : Bestnya Outing kat Fajar!

Those were the days. I had many response when I put up this status on my FB. I'd figure, perhaps this could make people smile rather than feel like barfing with my random housewife updates :p

It reminded me of the time when I was in college, the first time I learned to 'fly'. See, 'fly' is a word used to describe escaping from the gates of college / boarding school at odd hours without authorization and not getting caught.Usually you will have somesort of adrenaline rush when you 'fly'. Its the teen excitement. The thrill of doing something taboo.. Padahal takde la gempak mana pun :p

During my younger days, with an innocent face, people would not suspect the things I do. But I am just a small timer. Takde la pergi fly dari Taiping ke Ipoh to watch a gig at midnight. Itu kerja² budak² lelaki. The first time I did it was in 1999 during my matriculation days. Bulan puasa. Yes. Di bulan yang mulia. Tapi kisah 'fly' saya taklah hebat mane.. It was 9 of us.. Sneaked out pelan - pelan.. Masa tu rase mcm lagu background Foo Fighters - Learn to fly. We went to buka puasa kat gerai somewhere in Seremban on a weekday di kala orang lain sedang bertarawikh.. I know I know.. jahat kan ? . Skali terserempak dengan Warden! but he didn't notice us.. Terus balik kolej and sneaked in one by one mase pak jaga tak perasan..

Walaupun kesalahan yang amatlah kecil (ye ke?) but the thrill memang best. At that time, we felt like we own the world! Kita la gangster paling hardcore. It was the me-against-the-world-avril-lavigne-attitude phase. Silly I know.. But I guess it's nice to have those memories. Of course I am not proud of it.. But as a teenager, one must have a story to tell.. :)

The Sun

The Sun will never let you down :)

Btw, did u watch Glee yesterday ? (Season 2 : Epi 6) VERY DISTURBING! but I LOVE the ending!! Mike Chang has some smooth moves!

mulut berasap

This morning, around 620am, I opened the windows to get a breath of fresh air. Bila hembus, mulut saya berasap. Translation : It's cold outside (2°C). You never really comprehend the weather here. Last night it was warm, probably because we switched on the main heater and the electric heater. I had to switch on the kipas. Kelakar kan ? Because when it's cold, opening the windows would be killing yourself to death. But you still need some air. And sometimes bila dah terperuk je dalam bilik, udara dia feels stagnant. So dengan bantuan kipas, might make the air bergerak sket.

Also bila cuaca sejuk, rase malas nak buat semua bende. Paling tak productive. Termasuklah, susah nak bangun. Dan susah juga nak kejutkan anak dara di bilik sebelah ni (our houseowner's 14 y/o daughter). 2 days ago I woke her up kol 615 dia bukak pintu and said she will wake up at 630 so tak payah kejutkan dia. At 7am I ketuk lagi nak soh dia bgn tapi dia ckp ok ok. So fine. 8am mak dia call tanya anak nya dah bgn ker sbb dah kol 8am. So I ketuk lagi and she kelam kabut siap gi skolah. Now its 715am here and ayah dia dah panggil tadi soh bgn and I dah kejutkan skali dia bebel² something I didnt hear.. and it has been 1 hour. Dia masih lagi berhibernate :p I tak kisah nak kejutkan tapi saya yang cemas sbb awak tu masih in high school. Kalu uni ke takpe la gak nak gi lambat².. So what should I do now? Kalau anak sendiri ataupun anak sedara, I dah simbah dengan air sejuk.. :p

are you a leftie?

If you notice, I have added a few new blogs on my blog list by the left side on the panel. Also, I have changed a few things macam font, colors and added a few 3rd party HTML thingy on my blog. Demi mencantikkan ia. I suddenly realized something. Some bloggers place their tabs on the left side of the panel.. Some place it on the right. Kenapa ada different preferences? Personally for me, I like a small left panel. Simply because I am lefthanded. Kalau jalan pun, I prefer walking on the left side of a person. Because I carry my handbag on my left shoulder. So kalau nak jalan takde la terlanggar bahu with the other person. I managed to find this old blog I used to follow. Its a funny blog, in a disturbing way lah. Sometimes lawak dia mcm sesetengah orang je boleh faham. Kinda like a 30rock joke but in BM. If you wanna know which 1, you gotta check out either one of the blogs kat tepi nih (promote kawan² punya blogs :p)

Anyway, I read this blog's entry. I used to have a 'stranger' friend which I will borak borak and ceritakan masalah remaja saya padanya. Lama jugak I befriended this person virtually. From 1999 - 2003. Almost 5 years. But now, dah tak contact dah. In a way, I do agree that sometimes when you vent out things to a total stranger, it feels safer because you don't have to worry of that person menceritakan pada orang lain or judge you or apa apa lah. Because it won't effect that person pun. As long as you boleh luahkan to someone is okay. But of course now, I will tell my husband everything. Macam apehal nak citer kat orang lain kan ?

Now you have facebook asking you What's on your mind ? and you will have the urge to write every single thing. Nope. Not me anymore. I don't update personal things because it's simply too personal. Honestly, kadang - kadang tak larat tengok people who will update everything. Yes, mulalah citer pasal facebook. My husband said, I should not punish facebook (incident meng-deactivate fb account) because sikap sendiri yang tak boleh kawal. haha.. So saya dgr ckp suami and activate balik. Still haven't blogged about why I did that though. tengah mengcompose.

I guess that's the thing nowadays. Internet's function is no longer just keeping in touch, networking or online business. It's also a way of reaching out or gives us somesort of a platform to have an audience. You have that feeling of comfort knowing that there is a 'stranger' listening to you and that they might understand.

boots, heidelberg, winter and experience

I think sueannajoe was my junior back in SriAman. That statement was totally irrelevant but I just wanted to write that. I have been reading her blogs (she has a number of blogs, in BM, in English, about her business and photography) and she is pretty good.

We are planning to go to Ireland during the Christmas holidays. My husband's younger brother is expecting their 2nd baby. Yup, 2nd baby. So we are gonna visit them. I thought of going backpacking (am I capable of backpacking?) around DE abit before going to Ireland for the Christmas Hols. But it all depends on my husband. Nak la jugak jalan - jalan here. However, some friends are coming to DE for Christmas so maybe I might bring them jalan - jalan around Heidelberg. It's very near to Mannheim. My husband works in Heidelberg. But not the tourist area. Dia dekat tempat² office. Heidelberg is eine altstadt (an old town) and its beautiful. From Mannheim, it takes about 30 minutes or so to get there. Depending on which train you are taking. I have been there more than 3 times and I don't mind going there again and again and again..

Anyway, I wanted to share with you guys how I felt about this upcoming winter and what are my preparations. In the magazines and websites stated that this year's winter is gonna be the worst winter and I am so not looking forward for it. I bought a few jackets though and a few pair of boots and gloves. A long black trenchcoat from H & M and a cute white one from The NewYorker. Kelakar when I say The NewYorker because they actually have a shop that sells NewYork fashion. And they are not bad too. Not so pricey and it has that young vibe going on. I did blog once about buying a red jacket with a hood so that I have that little red riding hood kinda thing going on.. But I saw Baby Spice wearing a white jacket and a pair of white boots in the video Stop Right Now and she looked so cute! (Takde pic, so I had to PRINTSCREEN on the youtube video. Pathetic ay? Click on photo to see clearer) I know my husband would raise an eyebrow if I said to him, awwww cute kan boots putih tuu? kan ? kan? kan ? But.. I won't request for those from him.. Hehe.. if I want, I will buy them using my own money which he gives me every month. By that time, winter pun dah habis. Haha!

Some of the jackets I see online nampak cantik bila model dia pakai.. Or you see other people putting them on, it looks soo good. Macam citer Ally McBeal, Sex & The City or 30Rock. Samala bila tgk website H & M online. You feel like buying everything, if possible! But all of those are just the advertisers playing tricks on our minds.. and also, good looking models and good photography plays an important role.. Maka, jangan tertipu dengan online fashion pictures :p For example, yang kat tepi nih .. I can never pull that one off! But it looks so good on the model ! Believe me I have tried that exact same jacket but I don't look as near as good as that model. Maybe the shape of my body pun mcm sekeping je, so tak nampak cantik..  Boots dia pun cantik but kena jaga² because most boots from H & M and NewYorker or any other shoes that costs 20€ and above has pig skin lining. Jenuh la nak samak balik (although ada sesetengah orang cakap tak perlu samak because hanya perlu samak when kena daging babi. But just for the benefit of the doubt, I did samak). Harini ada mood la nak citer pasal fashion because yesterday I did a whole lot of 20 minutes walking while having my lunch. I had a small portion of wedges with Lemon Tartar sauce from Nordsee to-go (or Malaysians say it as Take-Away, dipengaruhi oleh Colony British). So I walked from Marktplatz all the way to Hauptbahnhof. I noticed that people walk while eating for several reasons.
1. Nak jimat masa.
2. It feels warmer when you walk sambil makan. Its a bad habit, I know. But the coldness made me do that. 3. You can kill a few stones macam jalan, sambil window shopping, think and do your shopping list in your head, check out other people's fashion and finally reach your destination.

Things they usually have while walking are bende yang macam to-go-ish like Pretzel, Croissant, Burgers, Fries. Depa takde la makan nasi lemak or kueyteowtomyam while walking. That would be a messy sight wouldnt it?

Yeah it's already November and in a few days it'll be mid of November and come December will be winter. Daun - daun pun almost semua berguguran. My hajat untuk berphotog with my feet in dalam himpunan dedaunan pun taktau sampai ke tak since it's freaking cold to go out for photography.. But for Winter, I hope it snows though. Last time when I first landed, after a couple of days, it snowed. But I only experienced snow on my way to the hospital di dalam tangisan  sebab kena chicken pox. Read here to recall. Last Winter was quite an experience. An experience I shall never forget kot.

Talking about experience, I went to Seilwolf yesterday to do the normal weekly grocery. Kat situ tak ramai orang and you can get all this weird² stuff that they don't sell in the normal DE grocery supermarkets. By weird² stuff I mean asian stuffs like cili kering, tofu, santan, sos for nasi ayam etc etc. So as I was walking, I saw another asian looking lady and I thought it was Kak Asmah (a kakak permanently residing here, married to a German and has twin sons a year younger than us). So dengan penuh confident I ran to her and said, Hi kak asmah! and she was like, 'was?' (apa?) and I was confused, I said, 'eh, ni kak asmah kan?' dia pun boleh jawab, 'nein, nein' .. rupanya she was some Thai or Vietnamese lady. MALU OK! terus saya ckp, 'ooh! Entschuldigung²' maksudnya, 'ooh malunya saya.. sory²'. My husband will say that I am racist bila I citer nih, but actually I am not .. betul...!

Okla, do you notice that this post takde correlation antara satu sama lain ?
