The Beach
A new classmate just registered in our group. He is from America n speaks quite fluent Deutsch cause either his dad or mom is Deutsch. So during the Pause we talked about bread und Nutella (what a topic) and suddenly he asked which part of Malaysia am I from? I doubt that he would know of PJ so I said Kuala Lumpur. Apparently he knows a bit about KL. He wanted to come to Malaysia for holidays but since his parents drinks so viel Alcohol they went to Thailand instead.
I told him that I have been to Krabi Island in Thailand for my honeymoon. Suddenly we were talking about The Beach (cause the movie was shot there). However, I think he taught it was a different movie because I meant The Beach starring Leonardo Dicaprio. He said No. The movie stars Ewan McGregor. I'm like what? And the whole time we were trying to figure out if we were talking about the same movie (in Deutsch). Suddenly he turned to one of our classmate which is an Australian girl and asked her in English. I just smiled.
I think he doesn't know that I could understand English :|
Anyway, this song reminded me of Krabi Island and I wish soo much to go there again. i LOVE IT!

Since it's the holiday season, a lot of the series' themes were very Christmas-y. In addition, it's been snowing the whole day yesterday and today when we woke up, it was seputih - putihnya. Guess the Germans' got their White Christmas.
Meanwhile, me and my husband spent the day just chilling at home. We got back almost at 1:30 am last night. We were invited for a 4-Course Christmas dinner at our houseowner's place (we live 2 stairs up from them). It was the first time I ate daging Rusa. It tasted not bad I guess. It was us, Kak Anis and Joe, and his mom (Oma, she is 89) and their friend Eric. After dinner, we had a little karaoke session and I scored the highest (97% btw) hehehe. My husband suddenly asked me if I wanted a karaoke set after he saw me meng-kongker microphone. heheheh.. We shall see :)
Yeah, karaoke is one way of boosting your self esteem. Which I need very much right now. Perhaps it's the winter talking or the holiday season thingy. Im not sure. I also played the piano a little. I played Beethoven"s piece Für Elise which I learned by hard (ke heart?) since I was 9 years old. Then I played a the shorter version of The Entertainer who left Joe whistling the song over and over again hehehe. I learned that the piano that I was playing survived the World War 2. It was Oma's piano and now Carie's. It's been around since 1935. It's older than my dad. And it's still in superb condition (German made :p ). Oma was telling about her life and how it was during the world war. Mannheim was one of the cities that got bombed. What's cool about old German people is that they have stories to tell about the war. And what better way to learn my German than talking to an old lady who speaks slowly but perfect German grammar. I understood her stories, or at least 70% of it. Oma wears a necklace that was given by her 1st husband. They got married when they were 19. Two weeks after the wedding, he had to go to war. He died in the war. She was devastated. She loved her first husband dearly and speaks fondly of him. Sedihnya. Macam dalam movie.
This morning I thought about Oma's love story. I was in for a love movie kinda mood. So I watched 'The Lakehouse' today. My husband (who never watches a movie twice) sat and watched it (again) with me. The story is a fiction. And there were several questions that was playing in my head while I was watching it. After the movie, me n my husband discussed about it and came to a conclusion that we both agreed (although it would never happen in real life). It was a nice show. What I like about it is that the thought about that guy... (opps.. don't wanna spoil the movie - if you haven't watched it). I would give it 8 out of 10 for The Lakehouse. 1 point was because Keanu Reaves heheheh.

After watching Jason Segel (the guy in How I met your mother) on Conan, we decided to check out Forgetting Sarah Marshall. He did mention that there are several scenes that he showed his you-know-what secara terang dan jelas. I almost puked when I saw 'it'. Selamba jer dia. My husband said, "It's his job what.. He's an actor" Hahaha.. sabar je la. But the movie was okla.. Funny. I recommend you to watch it when you are feeling macam nak tengok lawak2 bodoh. Nothing to wow about but just ok for me. I would give this movie a half half 5 out of 10.
Since I was in a movie marathon mood, I finally decided to watch the much talked about movie. Eat, Pray, Love. I would say that I was quite disappointed with that movie. Nothing much to wow about. I even fell asleep during that movie. Till now I don't think I wanna continue watching it. It's not so bad but it's not that good either. The movie is highly overrated just because Julia Roberts was starring in it. I would rate this halfly watched movie a 3.5 out of 10 for Eat, Pray, Love. Sorry.
After much disppointment, I switched my mood to a girly-girly movie kinda. I decided to catch up on The Sisterhood of the travelling pants. The only reason I wanted to watch this movie was because of Alexis Bledel and Blake Lively (she spells out Tall, Rich, Beautiful and Style). Terpengaruh dengan Gossip Girl. Maybe it's the effect of the Eat, Pray, Love movie, or maybe because I will be 30 next year, but this movie was not for me kot. It's loud (as in girls asik2 cakap which is memeningkan - Imagine Gilmore Girls darab 2), and tambah lagi pening because there are four main characters and they keep on switching scenes between all four of them. The minute you start to focus on one character, they change to another character. (a good observation. Mental Note : not to do that if I decide to direct a movie or write a novel :p ) Rating, 4 out of 10. 1 point is because I like the concept of the travelling jeans.. And only that..
Tonight my husband and I are gonna watch Reign over me starring Adam Sandler. So I hope I am able to give some reviews :)

Catching up with Movies
Last weekend my husband had some of his German officemates cameover for their once-in-awhile rock-banding. We just recently purchase Rock Band 3 plus with the Keyboard. It didn't take me long to shift to Expert mode on keyboards. Maybe because it was easy, or maybe it was because I used to take piano lessons.
We also got the hang of EA Sports thingy. Since it's snowing now and the weather is below 0°C most of the time, the usual exercising by the river is a crazy idea. We needed indoor activities to keep ourselves warm. I burned more than 100 calories already (not a good progress) and my husband lost a significant amount of weight. Bravo! My husband is also now hooked up on Fallout Las Vegas ( I think). So during that time I would usually catch up on my shows and movies. Since I stopped watching The Hills, I decided to watch movies for last weekend.
socialnetwork was brilliant! I like real life stories. And I think Mark Zuckerburg is a genius. It's a must watch movie for sure. It got me thinking about how great ideas can become such a phenomenon. No wonder he is now the youngest billionaire. Though he dropped out of Harvard, he is still very successful and injected some amount of his proceeds for charity. It also got me thinking about how the westerners are amazing in making movies. Of course we always looks on the positive side of things. Their movies are very moving and inspiring and it makes you really think about it even after watching the movie. I really do hope that Malaysians can produce these kind of movies one day.
The lovely bones. Cleverly written and directed. I still couldn't decide if this movie is heavy or light. It's just something in between. The idea is very different and the ending is not so cliche. I liked watching the girl who acted as Susie. Her face lit up everytime she smiled and she narrated the movie with a very child-ghostly voice. It made me want to listen to every word she was saying. The ending phrases was also the phrases used in the beginning and I thought that it had sum up the story nicely. And you would think that the title means something but its actually something else.. At least that was what happened to me :)
If you've watched any of these two, do share with me your comments about the movies k :)

Wetter wetter and Harry Potter
From one Freitag (Friday) to another Freitag to another Freitag. Can you see how drastically the weather changes ? Check it out. Today the weater is gonna be a nice 6/9°C. Meaning. The highest would be 9 and lowest is 6°C. And check out next week -7/0°C. And the next two weeks is gonna be -17/6°C. Gila kan range dia ? From a very low negative to a 6. I cannot imagine how it's gonna be. -17°C is gonna be the coldest weather I will be experiencing. Actually, the coldest that I have experienced was -5°C during last Winter. Even when it snowed it was only -5°C. There is gonna be a light snowfall next Thursday (25/11/2010). Seronok pulak. I hope its gonna be as fun as I always watch in the movies though :p
Speaking of movies, yesterday, me n my husband and some other friends went to the kino (cinema) to watch Harry Potter. And get this, it was my first time in a cinema here and it was our first movie after we got married. Haha! I realized this after YY asked me, 'Hast du schon ins Kino gehen?' Have you been to the Kino yet? And I thought and replied, 'Nein, this (tercakap english pulak) ist meine erste mal'. And I thought further and said, 'Eh, this is our first movie after we got married kan ?' And my husband said, Haah laah.. I added to YY about that fact and she laughed and said to my husband, 'Really aa? And it's Harry Potter some more :p' Hehehe.
We are not much of a Harry Potter fan. I think my husband never watched the movie and I watched only the first one and ended up sleeping at the 2nd CD: Maaf². I don't really fancy fantasy movies. Like Harry Potter, Narnia, LOTR etc. etc. I slept after watching 30 mins of LOTR. But Merlin I like. Dunno y. It's like a series that me n my family can sit n watch together. Maybe because it shows on a Sunday nights at TV3 (dulu la, now im not sure) and after dinner time. So macam chilling out time kot. But we like it a lot.
So anyway, when we got back yesterday, my husband and I took the train back up to Meeräckerplatz and walked home. Cewah, macam romantic la cause it was cold and everything. We were konon² speaking like Englishmen with very thick UK slang :p 'Whot you need to due is..' , 'That is mad!' .. 'Oh , it's bloody cold hierrr' Saje nak mengusik Harry Potter. I find UK slang are very difficult to comprehend. Because it sounds very thick and melodic. The melody sounds like more of a statement rather than a question. So sometimes I wonder, is he asking or making a statement? Memang bengong la.. Tergelak gelak. It was fun! And I realised, it doesn't take much to make me happy. Cause yesterday macam demotivated, probably the hormones and the you-know-it-girls time of the month, URGH.
Anyways, this weekend our highschool friend, Kurik and David, will be hanging out here. So kena kemas rumah! And buy food and cook! It's nice kot to have some company. And it's good for our relationship. My husband needs some guy time and I need to do my girl things too. Hehe. If Carie is not bz, I might ajak her to hang out skali la. Do some girl stuff.
Okla, have a great Friday and weekend y'all! Schönes Wochenende!

Hopeful
That's 3 nights in a row of freaky and scary nightmares. Mama says kalau mimpi buruk jangan citer kat orang. If you have a good dream, tell ONLY the one that you trust. I have heard of this. My friend told me a story that our Prophet Muhammad SAW adviced his friend of this.
Been feeling abit demotivated and down lately. But we can't always blame the weather right ?
Watched Glee yesterday. Gwyneth Parltrow was the substitute teacher for Glee club and she definitely nailed it! Right on the spot!
Today I heard Lean on Me MP3 from Glee. I used to listen to this song on my way back from work. The original song. And I would bop my head and sing my heart out dengan penuh perasaan (Bak kata Cikgu Juriah - SPM Chemistry teacher). For me, singing gives me that feel-good-feeling. Although I am not a good singer, but not bad in karaoke. (96% in Karaoke for I will Survive though :p ehem³ iklan jap) Anyway, back to the song. It's was from a movie 1989 movie, Lean on Me starring Morgan Freeman. I love those kinda movies. Movies about inspiring teachers. Teachers that not only teach academically. But also teach students about life. Teachers that give motivation, hope, faith and confidence to the next generation. Inspiring teachers that can change a person for the better, can change the world. At least someone's world. Inspiring teachers will be remembered for a long long time.
My favourite inspiring-teacher movies would be Lean on Me, To Sir with love, Dangerous Minds and Coach Carter (must see). It's not teacher's day. but I pray that all my teachers are blessed. Both my parents were teachers before. Their students still remember them till today. Both of my parents are still teachers of my life till today and will always be the inspiring teachers of my life. I hope that one day, I can contribute and become a teacher again. And hopefully can inspire students to be more that they can be.

Funny
I watched Scott Pilgrim vs The World and it was funny and entertaining. Very light. IT's good to watch after you've watched a whole weekend of CIA, FBI related series.. Here are some of my favourite quotes
Scott : Why does everything has to be so complicated ? (sliding down refrigerator)
Wallace : If you want something bad you have to fight for it. Step up your game Scott. Break up the L word.
Scott : Lesbian?
Wallace : The other L word
Scott : (thinking) LesbiANs?
Wallace : Love, Scott. I wasn't trying to trick you.
Knives : .. I mean.. I've never gone out with anyone so talented?
Scott : You go out with a lot of guys ?
Knives : Em, no..
Scott : Yeah.. so whatever man
Knives : I've never even kissed a guy..
Scott : Hey.. me neither
Young Neil : Oh my god.. You punched the highlights out of her hair .. He punched the highlights out of her hair!!
Scott : I'm in lesbians with you
Ramona : What ?
Scott : I really really mean it..
Wallace : Scott, you know I love you (handing tea). But I'm gonna need my own bed tonight. It's for sex.
Scott : ..Right
Wallace : I may need it for the rest of the week too
Scott : Right
Wallace : And the year
Scott : I get it
Wallace : Maybe you can move in with Ramona
Scott : She's with Giddeon
Wallace : Oh man.. It's probably just because he's better than you
