Ada apa dengan designers?

I have this habit of buying books and then simpan sampai one time I will read semua sekaligus. Or when the time is right, I will khatamkan one by one. As I mentioned before, I just came back from my London trip. Ye, takut nak kecoh² sebelum pergi. There are reasons why I did that. Takut orang pesan. Takut evil eyes, etc. Anyway, alhamdulillah dah selamat sampai Mannheim balik now. It was a 5 day trip. I found a really good book at Heathrow Airport. It's called, 'The Rules of Life' by Richard Templar. Usually I would choose not to read British writer's books but this one is a bit different. I like the ideas and messages conveyed and the 'rules' are very realistic and motivating. I would recommend you guys to read it. Ataupun kalau nak pinjam nanti pun boleh :)

Since I was on a break, I was also on internet-break. Hence social networking break. A FB-free time. I disabled my wall cause I wanted to minimize my notifications supaya tak serabut bila balik nanti and have to read everything. So, now menghadap FB la sikit². I read a friend's status saying something about overseas people wearing designers from top to bottom and how Malaysians are far behind because tak pakai barang² branded. I do feel like I want to comment but tak apa lah. I will just write here instead.

Firstly, in Malaysia, if you walk anywhere in the city, I would say 6 out of 10 people pakai handbag branded. Lately Longchamp is the in-thing. Previously, LV and Coach.  I would say Malaysians are quite lavish in spending by buying designers. I have nothing against them. In fact, I feel that memang best la kalau I ada sebijik handbag designer. Tapi I don't own one. Ada satu je Braun Büffel yg tak glamour sangat, tu pun hantaran masa kawin. Sekarang ni hantaran kawin LC, LV, coach. Tapi Malaysians are very brand concious. To be honest, kadang² rasa peer pressure juga kalau all your friends pakai designers. But luckily my close circle of friends yg jenis sempoi² :)

Secondly, since staying here in Mannheim, I notice that the Germans tak pakai sangat barang branded even though they can afford it. Money is channeled to other things. Frankly, I dunno where. Probably electronical gadgets or cars. Kalau pergi bandar, sehari, nampak la sorang dua je pakai handbag Coach or LV. Tu pun yang memang kaya gila ataupun tourists. The Mannheimers pakai handbag biasa je gi kerja. So, I would say that Malaysians lagi pakai barang branded. But perhaps I could be wrong.

Me personally, I dont own any. Pakai handbag H & M (dia macam ala-ala Metrojaya) and paling hebat pun Esprit. Jam pun masih lagi pakai jam AVON. hehehehe..

Just to share with you, Rule No. 1 : Keep it under your hat. -RT

Ada apa dengan Smart guys

Think about when you were a small girl. Masa main kahwin² or main masak².

Think about when you were a teenager, buying Bop magazines or Smash Hits kat kedai Seksyen 14 because or that new Jonathan Brandis poster (he is dead btw - committed suicide).

Think about when you were a little bit older when you used to catch live bands at Bukit Bintang to catch a glimpse of Reymee Hussein of Innuendo.

Think about when you started working and your boss started to explain about how the financial system works and how amazed you were with all the jargons. You kept on thinking how smart he is when actually he is just quoting from 'The Edge' magazine.

Think about when you started meeting up with guys and analysing how mature or immature they are, by listening to the issues they talk about with you. At times you try so hard not to yawn or wish that you could just vapourize into thin air and just disappear out of boredom.

Think about when you started watching TV shows where the hero isn't actually the most handsome guy in the show, but the ones who could solve complex problems, regardless how messy their hair might look like.

Think about how you developed as a child to a young lady and now a woman, and how looks really don't matter, but actually the heart and of course, when the guy is smart or a genius, is always a good catch :)

Ada apa dengan Politik

My new label says 'ada apa dengan..' under this category I would write about issues that the question would sound like, 'what the deal with..' I decided to make this label since I have a few 'ada apa dengan..' series.

So what am I gonna blog about today? Guess guess.. come on.. Facebook (again?) ? no lah. But about the most talked about topic in facebook. Any idea? ... you got it.

POLITICS

To be honest, I am not much of a fan of politics. It's so confusing. Especially Malaysian current politics. For the past one week, I have been attending German Orientatierungskurs, which is a course that teaches you all about Germany. The history, politics and its system, what are our rights and German culture. It was all in German. Haha! How I manage to understand the contents? It freaks me out too. But I understand more now about German history and politics. And how they developed since WW1 and WW2. Sangat sedih. Especially when I saw the video Fall of the Berlin Wall. That's why the Germans are so patriotic.

The outcome from this course is that now I know that Germany has 5 main political party in their parliament and also their political agendas. Apa yang menarik is that the Germans don't mix their personal issues and their political career. Think about this, one of the Ministers in the Parliament is Gay. Literally Gay. He married a guy. Another is an actually seorang anak angkat from Vietnam but speaks perfect Deutsch. Another married a Turkish lady who has a tattoo. But they do their jobs. Yeah memang ada tulis sikit dalam surat khabar but personal life is personal and work life is work. Of course I can't compare this with Malaysia. First things first, Gay adalah haram sama sekali. and tattoo jugak of course. And I am totally against these two. What I notice in FB is that people akan berbuih orang cakap pasal politics, some comments are berjela² and to prove that they are right, they will paste links from everywhere (yang takde citation pun actually). Figures and numbers and statistics, yada yada yada. Sometimes takde kena mengena pun dengan the actual politic negara itself, but more of membuka keburukan orang which makes me feel sad seeing that. What people know about politics is no longer the original agendas and apa yang diperjuangkan but more of what they did wrong and how corrupted they are. Corruption. Sedih kan. I stopped following the Malaysian politics a long time ago because simple its just too complicated and sad to say, pathetic. It's good that now we can voice out our opinions (really?) in the open. Or maybe sometimes malas nak kata apa cause nanti orang Cop dia ni orang UMNO ataupun orang PAS ataupun orang KEADILAN. People discuss about what's NOT being done rather than acting on how to develop our nation. At last, perbincangan tak bawa ke mana. Pointless. I feel that voicing out berbuih² pun takda apa effect unless you YOURSELF do something about it. But what can I do? I am just a normal rakyat biasa? Remember: small steps can go a long way. What we have currently is that, after one issue keluar, semua orang emotional berbahas dalam politics (in FB of course). After a week, senyap. It's like that. Sedih kan ? What can we do about it? Do we just talk and lay out numbers and figures di kedai kopi?

Political parties are supposed to have their own agendas in developing a country. But you don't need to be in a political party to help develop our country. I personally feel that there is no point in talking about local politicians; regardless whichever party. We are well aware of the drama they are acting. What's more important is that what can we contribute to our nation? Ever ask yourself, (If I may, in the words of JFK)

..what can I do for my country..?
