sering kali

My Deutsch exams are over :) Alhamdulillah. I did my best and I will only know the results in 4- 6 weeks.. So yesterday after my paper, the Malaysian Mannheimers did our annual Spring picnic at Luisenpark. This time special sket cause my husband ada skali.. Last year I went with Carie and almost semua lelaki and I felt so ackward and rasa nak balik cepat je. But now since dah a few times lepak dengan diorang skali with my husband, takde la segan sangat. Even though most of the time, I am the the only girl (ok la, lady or woman).

Anyway, its Sunday morning and my husband is giving me time to conquer the computer while he main game. Sbb dah lama tak menghadap computer. So I have been youtubing and listening to song to destress :p After watching the guys main guitar semalam, I decided that I will be slowly learning main guitar balik. I stopped playing since form 4 and now I only remember like 4-5 chords jer :( So now tengah sibuk la cari balik lagu best² and chords² . I stumbled upon maman teacher's pet blog . I used to love listening to his songs during my school days. He is a very talented guy tapi sayang very few appreciate his music. I am thinking of starting with Seringkali by maman. You can check out this song in youtube and also in his blog. There is a video of his performance in Ladies@Lepak in Sri Hartamas, which I wanna check out bila balik KL nanti inshaAllah. This song is also in Layar Lara's Soundtrack (one of the reasons why I bought the cassette masa form 4).

I guess thats all for now. Just a short update. Need to clean up my house since it's been so bersepak for a week. Do check out Maman's blog okay..

Here are some pictures of how our table looks like for most of the days for the past 2 months or so..
Take care all!

The Beach

A new classmate just registered in our group. He is from America n speaks quite fluent Deutsch cause either his dad or mom is Deutsch. So during the Pause we talked about bread und Nutella (what a topic) and suddenly he asked which part of Malaysia am I from? I doubt that he would know of PJ so I said Kuala Lumpur. Apparently he knows a bit about KL. He wanted to come to Malaysia for holidays but since his parents drinks so viel Alcohol they went to Thailand instead.

I told him that I have been to Krabi Island in Thailand for my honeymoon. Suddenly we were talking about The Beach (cause the movie was shot there). However, I think he taught it was a different movie because I meant The Beach starring Leonardo Dicaprio. He said No. The movie stars Ewan McGregor. I'm like what? And the whole time we were trying to figure out if we were talking about the same movie (in Deutsch). Suddenly he turned to one of our classmate which is an Australian girl and asked her in English. I just smiled.

I think he doesn't know that I could understand English :|

Anyway, this song reminded me of Krabi Island and I wish soo much to go there again. i LOVE IT!

i hate this part

I would usually put on my earphones and listen radio through my Nokia XpressMusik Phone(yes, I don't fancy Iphones and such. I am an olskool-er). I tune in to BIG.FM, a fresh and young radio station aus Baden Württemberg (the Bundes where I am currently living right now). Suddenly this song was on. And it transported my back to my homeland where I used to listen to this song while driving to work. Amazing that this song managed to bring back memories of going to work while I was going to school. Ironic.

thoughts

To those January born babies have most probably celebrated their 30th birthday by now or will be celebrating it soon. 30. The big 3-0. InshaAllah kalau umur panjang, I will be celebrating my 30th birthday this May. I don't want anything. Just prayers and well wishes is more than enough for me. I would usually fear or panic or dread the thought of me reaching an older age. Looking at those socialnetwork sites would sometimes make me think about my own life.. While other people flash their family, their newborns, documenting their newborns' milestone, their wealth, their success, their 5 figure bonuses, their stateof the art gadgets.. I flash nothing interesting of myself whatsoever. Not comparing with the others but viewing it will sometimes make you think (I know you agree with me on this). But alhamdulillah I have my health, my husband, my family, good friends and Allah has been generous and making my life easier here as I would imagined. Allah has granted me strength and health which money can never buy and something that I am thankful for every single day. I don't have those other things to post but it's okay.

Winter is slowly ending. It stopped snowing when 2011 began. I would like to share with you a song. This song will always remind me of Winter 2010.. when the days were shorter and colder.. when the ray of sunlight brought smiles to everyone.. when the coffee tasted warmer.. when the hot shower felt nicer.. when the weather brought everybody and everything closer.. when everything was dark and bright at the same time.. my first Winter was a memorable experience.. I hope and pray that 2011 will be a good year for all of us.

This is Xavier Naidoo. He is a Mannheimer and used to work at my houseowner's restaurant as a tukang cuci pinggan last time. Now a multimillionaire singer. Life is funny when you think about it. How your life can change within a moment, a day, a week, a month, or a year.. you get the idea..

I was messaging with my very good old friend, also my schoolmate. He is now a father of 3 and lives in Ohio. Once in a while we would keep in contact. He asked if I had a recipe for Kuah Dal or Nasi Briyani. I told him that I don't know but my husband can cook Nasi Briyani very well and I will ask him. Then I said, its funny that I am berbalasing msgs about recipes with him. It was also a very rare occasion that his profile picture is himself with his three kids. If you had known him back then in school, you would never imagined that. He replied that sometimes he feels that moments like these seems surreal. If only he had said during school, 'Hey, in 13 years time, when I have 3 kids, I will message you in FB asking for nasi briyani resipi' and I would reply, 'Gee, I dunno la. That's my husband's specialty who is --- from class ---. I have to ask him laa'

We never thought that life would turn out to be like this. But I'm glad it did. It's the surprises in life that makes it more interesting. Every single thing that we own is from Allah, He can give and take anytime He wants to. Even our lives. Embrace life people..

Al- Fatihah for Alif Abu Bakar. Thoughts and prayers are always with you couz..

A Long December

I was on facebook just now. I have toned down on the anger bit since I watched socialnetwork. I figured that Mark's idea was brilliant, though there are people who claimed that he stole the idea. But he didn't steal the codes. And that is why, when you have an idea, you should act on it right away and not procastinate :p

Anyway, our friend, Kurik posted Counting Crows' Long December video and that had triggered me to write this piece (again, with the pieces :p).

It does seem like a long december though. It's only the 7th today and I feel like two weeks has gone. Perhaps its the long night time where Maghrib is only at 1630 and once you're done with Isya' at 1815, you feel the distance between that time and the time you sleep moves very slowly. Does it make sense at all ?

Well, I am fasting today and I feel bad saying this. It's nice to have Subuh at 0611 and maghrib at 1630 which makes it supercool to puasa but the winter makes me wanna eat all the time.Sabar².

Tonight my husband is going to hang out with his Americana friend here in Lindenhof to watch their favourite NFL team, New England Patriots. It's another guys night out. I wish I had more girl friends here and have more girls night out.. or in.. or whatever.. Since my friend YY is currently busy with her Masters presentation, I malas nak kacau her. I will only kacau her after her presentation hehehe.. Sooo.. Im gonna cook a healthy yet fatty speghetti bolognaise with lots and lots of cheese. And maybe, I might just make my famous Bread pudding as dessert. I'm gonna put on my legging and watch Eat.Pray.Love under the covers tonight. I need some down to earth kinda movie.

By the by, yesterday while going to town and surveying boots for my husband, I saw that there is a Christmas Sale and said WELL HELLO to you too! Perfumes are sold at really cheap prices. Luckily I am not so much of a perfume person.  I will use one perfume till the very last drop before buying a new one. Im more of a shoes and handbags person. Or maybe just shoes. Oh wait, yup that's right.. Shoes and handbags :p So I didn't get any.

Contemplating whether I should go out again or not today.

Hopeful

That's 3 nights in a row of freaky and scary nightmares. Mama says kalau mimpi buruk jangan citer kat orang. If you have a good dream, tell ONLY the one that you trust. I have heard of this. My friend told me a story that our Prophet Muhammad SAW adviced his friend of this.

Been feeling abit demotivated and down lately. But we can't always blame the weather right ?

Watched Glee yesterday. Gwyneth Parltrow was the substitute teacher for Glee club and she definitely nailed it! Right on the spot!

Today I heard Lean on Me MP3 from Glee. I used to listen to this song on my way back from work. The original song. And I would bop my head and sing my heart out dengan penuh perasaan (Bak kata Cikgu Juriah - SPM Chemistry teacher). For me, singing gives me that feel-good-feeling. Although I am not a good singer, but not bad in karaoke. (96% in Karaoke for I will Survive though :p ehem³ iklan jap) Anyway, back to the song. It's was from a movie 1989 movie, Lean on Me starring Morgan Freeman. I love those kinda movies. Movies about inspiring teachers. Teachers that not only teach academically. But also teach students about life. Teachers that give motivation, hope, faith and confidence to the next generation. Inspiring teachers that can change a person for the better, can change the world. At least someone's world. Inspiring teachers will be remembered for a long long time.

My favourite inspiring-teacher movies would be Lean on Me, To Sir with love, Dangerous Minds and Coach Carter (must see). It's not teacher's day. but I pray that all my teachers are blessed. Both my parents were teachers before. Their students still remember them till today. Both of my parents are still teachers of my life till today and will always be the inspiring teachers of my life. I hope that one day, I can contribute and become a teacher again. And hopefully can inspire students to be more that they can be.

Here is Hopeful from Twista OST of Coach Carter.

'Our deepest fears not that we are inadequate,
our deepest fears that we are powerful beyond measure'

lunch with the 33s

I used to write alot. Before the internet era, I used to carry a book everwhere I go so that I can immediately write whatever that comes to mind. Somesort of a journal. Then, I was introduced to blogs and how cool it is to have one. I started having a really private blog somewhere in 2003 or 2004 I can remember. I don't even remember the URL and the password. Then I blogged in friendster's blog. People loved my blog because I used to write about really cool yet depressing things. Haha!

I decided to shift to blogspot when I wanted to have a low profile blog so that only a few can follow. I wrote alot. About almost everything. And I had quite a number of followers. 17 as I could remember it. Hahaha.. takde la ramai sangat but ok la. I decided to privatise that blog only to myself after I saw people landed on my blog after googling my name and also my husband's name. I didn't want people to find out about me, I guess.

So here I am now, I don't mention my name or my husband's name. People can't google us and only a few knows about this blog. So, you are the chosen one. Wilkommen :)

Yesterday was an eye opener day for me. In the morning I was chatting online with my very good friend. She said that sometimes she is confused with her life. Hey, aren't we all ? Later that day, I went to the city to do some shopping and I also met my ex-Deutsch-classmates for lunch. Both of the 33 years olds just got married this year. After finishing half a chicken, a bowl of fries and a wholesome delicious salad, we got to talking about how we all landed here in Deutschland. It surprised me that they hated Deutschland and I felt differently about it. Madalina told us that she was very successful back in her homeland and so was Jasmin. I guess we all have our stories. Things changed totally after they decided to come here and follow their husbands. But I guess I am thinking it positively. At one point I told them this. 'Yeah when I talk to people back home, they said, oh you're just a housewife there? Sometimes it can make you feel really down the way that other's look at you now.' How to explain to them that it is not easy since people don't speak English here. Even all the forms are in Deutsch. How to explain that when you've only been here 5 days and you got chicken pox, after a month of being here, you husband broke his leg. And having to go to the Apotheke and to the insurance company and the bank all by yourself in foreign land that speaks foreign language. How to tell them that you had to go to the Dentist and remove 3 of your wisdom tooth and how difficult it is to talk to the administration people. How to explain that people here talk Deutsch all the time and you can't get by without learning their language. How to tell them that we don't have the luxury to go to mamak stall or gerai² to get that Mi Bandung at 10pm. We don't have the luxury to go around with our cars everywhere and the mode of transportation is by the Bus and SBahn even when we have to carry heavy things. And they ask me, you buat apa JE kat sane? Dok rumah jadi housewife JE ke? I need not to justify myself. I just say, Yup. Jadi Housewife JE. Let them think whatever they wanna think because even how crystal clear I explain how it is here, they have no idea. And they never will have the idea until the come here and see it for themselves and experience it. Germany is not like other countries. They don't operate in English. But I like the fact that this is how it is. It taught me the meaning of survival. Jasmin said that there is always another way to look at it. People don't understand that being a housewife here is so different. The biggest challenge is the language barrier. And we have a plus point that know Deutsch when we go back to our homeland, we can speak Deutsch. We are more independent.

Looking back, God gave us a test. Can I really survive it here? God knows how frustrating it is when you can't understand what people are talking about. But alhamdulillah now, I can get around although my Deutsch is not perfect. In fact, I am soo in the beginner's level but I can understand and speak a little. Not that fluent but at least I am surviving here, and it's all in God's will.

While the 33 year old's were talking, it got me thinking about life. And how my friend earlier had asked, is there more to life ? This time last year or two years ago, I asked myself the same question everyday when I travel 60 kms to work. Perhaps, there is. And I know that I am here for a reason. Inshallah, with lots of effort and support, and God's willing, I will survive and make it here.

Pokerface

Thats a very small picture of me from the back (ignore the guy). This picture was taken on the day I left KL and this was in KLIA about 1040pm on 25th February 2010. I looked kinda lost and eager at the same time. But certain. I was on my way to start my new life in DE. Land of the Deutsch. Deutschland. I didn't know at that time I was carrying a chicken pox virus. Now I have a pokerface and listening to Lady Gaga's Pokerface while blogging. Well, who said it's gonna be easy.. but then again who said it's gonna be hard. Just go through it one day at a time :)

It snowed. I experienced my first snow experience! and to top it off i got my chicken pox too! Isn't it ironic? Dont u think? Funny2.. I have been resting a lot that's why there weren't any web activities as much. But today, I feel abit better alhamdulillah so I am gonna upload the pics of snow.. Check it out..

Morning of 6th March 2010

 Morning of 7th March 2010

What I Discovered - Some real cool TechnoShait

I discovered that they have MTV here in DE. It's really cool. Yesterday, Mr. Lucky was showing me how to operate the TV (it's really complicated and I had to write notes) and while I was browsing through the hundreds of channels, I stumbled upon MTV. and this song was on. I fell in love with it almost instantly.

Sing with me!

Denn alle komm' weil es abgeht,

Wie ein kranker Haufen,
raufen wir uns, Atzen lasst es krachen.
